Meet the Band

FunHouse is an exciting new band that unites a diverse range of talent and experience, creating a vibrant stage presence that captivates audiences. From electrifying guitar riffs to soulful vocals and dynamic drumming, FunHouse’s wide-ranging backgrounds fuel our innovative sound and promise to leave a lasting impression on our fans!

Dave Vocals

Dave

Lead Singer, Rhythm Guitar

David picked up the guitar at the age of 14, and by 16 he was already performing throughout northern Minnesota with the band “Almost Even,” playing bar shows well before most people his age were even allowed inside. After years of gigging, life took him in a different direction and he stepped away from music for nearly two decades. Now back on stage and more energized than ever, David’s focus has shifted strongly toward vocals, bringing a powerful, seasoned presence to every performance. Whether delivering classic rock staples or modern hits, his voice and rhythm guitar anchor the sound with grit, heart, and authenticity.

Steve Keys

Steve

Keys

Steve is a lifelong musician. He grew up in a musical family and learned guitar and piano in childhood, then went on to study music in college (majoring in music theory and composition and organ). He played in bands through his teens and twenties in New England and was in a band in Boston that came close to a record contract (The Big Picture). Steve took time off from popular music to get married and raise a family, but continued to compose in classical styles (solo piano, choral and symphonic). When a friend asked him to join a band as keyboard player about 5 years ago Steve enthusiastically agreed. For the last five years Steve has been a member of The Rescue Dogs, Last of the Mojitos and now FunHouse.

Reece Guitar

Reece

Lead Guitar & Backup Vocals

Reece O’Leary, Funhouse's lead guitarist, is making his official band debut with this band! Hailing from central Iowa, he has been playing guitar for years and is fueled by a deep passion for ongoing musical growth. Drawing inspiration from icons like James Hetfield, Randy Rhoads, and Eddie Van Halen, Reece hopes to share his music globally and motivate others to pick up an instrument.

Oly Bass

David "Oly" Olsen

Bassist & Vocals

Retired U.S. Navy Photographer

David, Oly, as his friends call him, has a long, rich history in music. He started out as a student playing tuba at the age of 10. It didn’t take long in his musical journey before he fell in love with the bass guitar, and at the age of 13 he became serious about making the bass guitar “his instrument”. He began his professional music career in the D.C. area. Later, upon moving to the Midwest, he was a part of a very popular band named “Bonzai.” Oly performed with Bonzai for 13 years in the northern Minnesota area. Oly was also behind the start up of another Minnesota band called “Almost Even” which included him and featured his son on guitar and vocals. Since relocating to the Des Moines area, Oly has continued to be active in the local music scene as the bass player for “Traffic Jam”, “The Rescue Dogs”, and “Last of the Mojitos.” Currently, he is playing bass guitar, as well as covering some of the lead vocal duties, in the band “FunHouse”. The common goal of FunHouse is to be one of the best acts in the Des Moines area. In Oly’s own words, “I’m a backstreet rocker, and will be till the day I die!”

Wolf Drums

Dave “The Wolf” Wolf

Drums and Percussion

Dave began his formal musical training at the age of 10. During his developing years he was influenced by all the great fusion jazz drummers as well as some of the progressive rock drummers. Dave began performing professionally at the age of 16. Upon leaving high school he was awarded the prestigious John Phillip Sousa award for his musical achievements and contribution to the various school bands he was involved in. “The Wolf” has performed with many local and regional bands over the years. He has played everything from country, jazz and fusion jazz, to classic rock and progressive rock. More recently he was the timekeeper for Back Alley Jam, Traffic Jam, and Last of the Mojitos. He is the current drummer for FunHouse, an up and coming local band that is positioned to be a favorite in the Des Moines area. Dave often says “music is a gift from Heaven.” Music is part of his daily life and has no idea what a day would be like without it.
